United Kingdom is part of the Australians in World War II series, published by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA). Written by historian Dr Peter Williams, this book focuses on the 34,000 Australians who served time in Britain, or operated from British airports and ports, during the war. They performed many tasks, from nursing to escorting Atlantic convoys, flying sweeps over France or landing on the beaches of Normandy.
