An enthusiastic crowd swarms towards the back of a bus on which uniformed ex-POWs are riding. Members of the crowd reach out to touch the veterans and a couple of people wave small Australian flags.

Members of the 8th Division liberated from Japanese POW camps are given an enthusiastic welcome by crowds in Sydney, 16 September 1945. The men were flown from Singapore into Rose Bay by Catalina flying boats, then bussed to hospital for medical examination. Cheering crowds lined the bus route. AWM 115982
