Group Captain RJ Brownell, who commanded RAAF Far East and RAF Station Sembawang during 1940-41, was responsible for administration of RAAF units in Singapore and Malaya in this initial phase of deployment. He returned to Australia before the Malayan campaign began. (AWM 007599)
