A publicity shot taken a few weeks before the campaign erupted shows pilots of No. 453 Squadron RAAF running to their Buffaloes in response to a 'scramble' order. During the campaign, enemy bombing and strafing would have decimated aircraft lined up in this fashion. (AWM SUK14775)
