Armed soldiers sitting in a trench
Lieutenant Albert Victor Sedgwick MC and some of his party from the 24th Australian Infantry Battalion at Mont-Saint Quentin, France, 1 September 1918. They were photographed while waiting for the artillery barrage to lift on Mont St Quentin. Then they moved out of the trench to engage in the renewed attack on the crater at 1:30 pm. This attack, by men from the 21st, 23rd and 24th Australian Infantry Battalions, successfully captured Mont St Quentin. Lance Corporal 1977 Lindsay James Turner is second from the right holding a Lewis gun. AWM E03142
