For men enduring the siege of Tobruk, the arrival of supplies, like these, from the Comforts Fund were a bright spot in an otherwise bleak and dangerous existence. Although Tobruk was surrounded by Axis forces, the port remained open to Allied shipping. Naval personnel took great risks to keep the town's garrison supplied. (AWM 007506)
