Men wounded during the fighting at Tobruk arrive at Mersa Matruh in May 1941. The role played by Allied naval vessels in bringing supplies and reinforcements in and taking out the wounded ensured that Tobruk's defenders were able to hold out until the siege was lifted. (AWM 007569)
