Pilots and aircrews of 8 and 100 Squadrons RAAF at Tadji airfield east of Aitape in October 1944. They had just returned from operations over enemy territory. Their aircraft, Australian-built Beaufort bombers, are visible in the background. The squadrons had been based at Tadji since June of that year, and would soon be almost entirely occupied supporting the 6th Division's operations between Aitape and Wewak. AWM OG1605
