Men of A Company, 2/8th Battalion, rest around a shell crater on 'The Blot', which they have just played a key role in assaulting, on 14 July 1945. All states were represented in this group of men from a battalion raised in Victoria. Such heterogeneity was typical of the infantry battalions by 1945. AWM 094025
