At Ulunkohoitu Ridge, near Yamil, Private Jack Beard and Corporal Cecil Hutchinson of the 2/6th Battalion fire their Vickers machine-gun in reply to fire from Japanese occupying the higher slopes on 18 July 1945. Australians captured the ridge that day. AWM 094353
