Extraordinary road between Skardu (Pakistan territory) and Kargil (Indian territory) winding around precipitous edges to Indus, below. Most of this section, made by Pakistan military engineers, would have been laid by hand, stone after stone. Captain McGregor, NZ UN Milob (Military Observer), dressed in borrowed Frontier Force uniform, is at rear of the United Nations jeep. Australians served in Kashmir as part of the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP). AWM P05689.044
