Private John Simpson 'Jack' Kirkpatrick, 3rd Field Ambulance, leading a donkey with a wounded soldier down Monash Valley and Shrapnel Valley to Anzac Cove for treatment. Simpson was hit by a machine-gun bullet and killed in Monash Valley on 19 May 1915. AWM J06392
