Five Militia officers of the Victorian Mounted Rifles photographed in Melbourne, c. 1914. Major Thomas Harold Redford from Warrnambool; Lieutenant (Lt) Edward Ellis Henty from Hamilton; and Lt Eliot Gratton Wilson from Warrnambool. Seated, from left to right: Lt Robert Ernest Baker from Larpent and Lt Keith Allan Borthwick from Armadale. They all served at Gallipoli as officers with B Squadron, 8th Australian Light Horse Regiment. Only Robert Baker survived the charge at the Nek by the 8th and 10th Light Horse Regiments on 7 August 1915. Major Leslie Hore, who charged that morning with the 8th Light Horse, wrote: 'Truly we have been through the Valley of the Shadow of Death as our regiment has been cut to pieces and all our officers killed or wounded except two.'
