Crewmen on a corvette

Two men and a gun.

The corvettes were lightly armed when posted to Singapore but most soon acquired heavier anti-aircraft guns. Petty Officer Jack Trevor (left) and another crewman man one of the original Vickers guns fitted to HMAS Wollongong. The ship’s captain later acquired a Bofors gun at Keppel Harbour to boost Wollongong’s anti-aircraft defences. (Courtesy Bernard ‘Bunny’ Barton)
