- read and correctly sequence key events
- connect significant events during the war.

Teaching ideas
Students could use the Second World War timeline to:
- highlight and discuss turning points in the war
- connect main events to work out how one event led to another
- create their own interactive timeline
- use the timeline to make judgments and conclusions, such as the impacts on defence personnel, civilians and military strategy
- select an event from the timeline and do further research
- select an event from the timeline and learn about a veteran who served there
- explore the advantages and disadvantages of timelines.
