Global context National Service was a product of the global and regional conflicts facing Australia after World War II. These included:

David Sabben (Australian Army), Platoon Commander (Video)

As a young man, Dave Sabben commanded an infantry platoon in Vietnam.

Gary McKay (Australian Army), Combat (Video)

Gary McKay went to Vietnam as a national serviceman and commanded an infantry platoon. He saw battle first hand.

Ray Asmus - Vietnam (Video)

Raymond John Asmus was born and raised in Geelong, Victoria. He was conscripted into the Australian Army in 1969.

Wayne Brown (Australian Army), National Serviceman (Video)

Wayne Brown was called up for National Service and went to Vietnam as a medic. He was awarded the Military Medal for bravery.
