About our teaching resources

Our Gallipoli educational resources include lessons, classroom activities, source analysis for students to analyse primary and secondary sources, interactive activities, downloadable worksheets, workbooks, books and videos. The classroom activities cater to a range of learning styles and year levels. Resources vary in format, such as free printed books, online books, PDF files and online educational games.

Education specialists and qualified historians design our resources. This ensures that they are historically accurate, support your teaching and engage your students.

Many of the Gallipoli topics have been developed for use in the classroom, such as:

  • the goals of the Gallipoli Campaign
  • the geography and landscape of the Gallipoli peninsula
  • the landing at Anzac Cove
  • conditions for soldiers, medics and nurses
  • trench warfare and weapons
  • key events, including the Battle of Lone Pine and the Battle of the Nek
  • wartime artworks, artists and writers
  • the planned evacuation from Gallipoli.

To bring history to life, we have included oral histories that capture veterans' stories and experiences.

To support student learning, printable scaffolds have been developed to help students analyse primary and secondary historical sources.

Resources categorised for primary and secondary schools contain activities and content ready for classroom use and lesson implementation. These are all based on the depth studies and content descriptors in the Australian Curriculum v9. The range of resources allows for in-depth or more general coverage of the topics, depending on your teaching needs.

The extension category includes useful resources containing detailed content that may require more advanced literacy skills. These resources could be used for independent research tasks and extension activities or be modified to meet your teaching needs.
